Kate Stevenson has extensive experience as a policy researcher, including in the areas of Japanese diplomacy, domestic and international disaster relief and civil-military coordination. Before joining GR Japan she worked for a year in IT consulting and from May 2018 undertook a research fellowship, continuing her research on Japan’s international disaster relief, with the Australia-Japan Research Centre. In March 2019, she was invited to present on a panel of young researchers at the Stimson Center (Washington D.C.), discussing international engagement in disaster response. Since joining GR Japan, she has supported accounts in health, renewable energy and AI-based disaster prevention.
Kate has a B.A. in Asian and International Studies from Griffith University in Australia, an honours degree in Asia Pacific Studies from The Australian National University and an M.A. in International Cooperation from The University of Tokyo. She speaks English and Japanese.
