Tomo Honda is a former member of the Fukushima Prefectural Assembly in The Fukushima Prefectural Government from 2005 to 2015 where he provided policy recommendations to the Governors of Fukushima. Tomo represented, advised, and supported private corporations, trading unions, and various industry lobbyist organisations in both national and local government relations, public policy analysis, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement. Tomo was nominated as the National President of Federation of U39 Prefectural Assembly Members thus formed and maintained direct connections with key national level politicians and local assembly members across all Japan.
Tomo studied International Business programme at American College of Switzerland in Leysin, Switzerland and earned his BA in History from Suffolk University in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. He went on to earn his Master of Arts degree (MA) with merit in International Relations and Diplomatic studies from the University of Westminster, London, England, and a year abroad at Centre Europeen Hautes Etudes Internationales, Paris, France.
Before his return to public service in Japan, he worked in private companies in Paris, France, Frankfurt am Main, Germany and Stuttgart, Germany. (International Marketing and Supply chain management) He speaks Japanese, English, French and German.
