GR Japan’s International Policy Forum (IPF) is honoured to welcome Yusuke Nakanishi as a speaker at its webinar.
Born in 1979, Yusuke Nakanishi is a native of Tokushima Prefecture. He currently holds the posts of Director of the Fisheries Division in the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and Chair of the House of Councillors’ Committee on Financial Affairs.
He has held a variety of posts, including Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Finance and Chief Director of the House of Councillors’ Committee on Environment.
Mr. Nakanishi belongs to the LDP’s Shikokai (another name for the Aso Faction, headed by Taro Aso, the deputy prime minister and finance minister in Shinzo Abe’s administration). The Shikokai includes Jokokai, a policy group consisting of 13 members of the House of Councillors, that compiled policy recommendations on the social security system this May, with a view to realising “a vibrant, healthy, and long-living society". Mr. Nakanishi previously served as chair of the policy group, taking the lead on these policy recommendations.
The social security policy reform recommendations caught the attention of Mr. Aso who highly rated them. They were thereafter incorporated into “80 Compasses for the Next Generation of a Strong Japan” and other policy proposals made by Shikokai in July 2020.
