GR Japan, Ocean Outcomes (hereafter O2) and Seafood Legacy today issued a joint press release to call for efforts to prevent Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing. According to the most recent research commissioned by O2, "Estimates of illegal and unreported seafood imports to Japan" , 24–36% of 2.15 million tonnes of wild-seafood imports to Japan in 2015 were of illegal and unreported origin. The three organizations suggest actions to be taken to stop IUU products from other markets from entering into the Japanese market.
