GR Japan today announced the appointment of Yoshiteru Uramoto as Senior Consultant, with immediate effect.
With more than 30 years of experience working managerial positions at United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), working International Labour Organisation (ILO) and United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), Uramoto brings a wealth of knowledge and unparalleled skills to GR Japan. His expertise covers international aid and development in numerus areas from humanitarian programmes to education and health, international relations, migration, social justice, CSR (corporate social responsibility), and ESG (environmental, social, and corporate governance).
During his rich career at UNICEF, Uramoto worked from 1978 to 2006 on delivering basic maternal and child health (MCH) services and education for women and children in emergencies and in poverty, developing policies, and building government capacities in many countries and regions over the globe, including Myanmar, Sudan, India, former Yugoslavia, Central Asian nations, Indonesia and East Timor, while also representing UNICEF in Japan and Korea at Tokyo office.
Uramoto also served as ILO Assistant Director General and Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific from 2012 to 2014. Prior to that, he was Deputy to the Director-General of UNIDO supervising all field offices and their programme operations from 2007 to 2011.
Uramoto holds a master’s degree from John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and a bachelor’s degree from Sophia University, where he also worked as Distinguished Professor of Global Education and Discovery from 2015 to 2022.
